Introduction

In order to organize and post your course materials online, we recommend you use a Learning Management System.

Start by setting up your course in BYU Learning Suite or Canvas. There you can host all of your files, images, documents, exams, etc. and students can turn in their homework, collaborate on assignments, and take exams.

In addition to the information on this site, detailed instructions and tutorials are available at the links below:

Uploading Files

You can add files, images, documents, etc. to Learning Suite several ways.

Content pages
Create assignments
Digital Dialog assignments
Exams/Quizzes
File storage

Linking to Files

You can use external sites such as Box, OneDrive, Zoom, YouTube, etc. to store video files, images, and documents. Embedded links allow students to click on the links to these items and open them directly in their browser or download, depending on the type of file you link.

How to embed links in Learning Suite

Links can be embedded on any content page, assignment description, exam description, exam questions, and Digital Dialog assignments.

Setting Up Assignments

Assignments are easy to schedule, and you have a lot of flexibility on when you want those assignments to show up on your schedule, their open and close dates, and much more.

Grading Assignments

Assignments can be graded by downloading the files students uploaded or by using the Grader. You can also enter grades into the Gradebook manually.

Organizing My Course Schedule

Syllabi can be created directly on Learning Suite or you can upload a document for students.

Assignments and exams will show on the schedule on the dates which you make those items available. You can organize the items in columns, edit the schedule, add text items, and make the schedule available for RSS feed.

Learning Path

Another way to organize course content is by using Learning Path. In Path, activities, assignments, and exams are all scheduled in a sequenced form. Groups of assignments/activities are called units. Faculty can limit students from moving ahead until required items/units are completed or a specified date is past.

Submitting Final Grades

Using the Final Grades feature of BYU Grades is the simplest way to submit your grades to AIM. However, if you have manually calculated your final grades in another program or on paper, you can still use BYU Grades to submit grades to AIM. Grades can be exported from Learning Suite and imported after adjustments are made.

BYU Learning Suite is fully integrated with AIM and includes a one-click final grades submission process. If you make edits to the grades after submission (but before final grade submission deadline) you can resubmit final grades as many times as necessary.
