About the Workshop

Each summer, the Center for Teaching & Learning offers the New Faculty Workshop: Teaching the Total Person. This refers to a phrase in the BYU Mission Statement that all instruction should contribute to the “balanced development of the total person.” During the workshop, you will apply the practical principles to a course that you teach. These principles will give you a solid foundation upon which to build a successful teaching career. In addition, the workshop fulfills a requirement for the Faculty Development Project sponsored by the Faculty Center. The workshop will be held during three different weeks in the summer to help you find a session that will work for your schedule. Each week the four sessions are held Tuesday through Friday mornings with the agenda (subject to change) and schedule outlined below.
