The instructions below provide a step-by-step process to integrate the Aims of a BYU Education with course learning outcomes or program learning outcomes using your expertise informed by guided set of generative AI prompts.
Just a reminder: AI can raise awareness and stimulate thought, but the final product should reflect your judgment.

This first document linked below will have you examine the foundations, values, premises of your discipline and see how they connect to the foundations, values, and premises of the gospel.

The second and third documents below help you conceptualize how practitioners or professionals engage in the real-world contexts of your field and transfer these patterns into instruction.

You will upload the three completed documents above to shape a course purpose and learning outcomes that integrate disciplinary norms with the Aims of a BYU Education.

course learning outcomes - what students will do to achieve the course purpose
The next steps in the process require information that is specific to your course and context—generalized AI prompts do not work well here. We recommend contacting your CTL Consultant to help you work through the next steps. If you prefer, you can work with AI to explore culminating experiences that fit your outcomes and situation. Further, you can explore ways to orient learning activities and assessments to increase disciplinary proficiency through ample structured practice.
